Too Much to do so little time!

Hey there to all my followers out there, I want to apologize for the lack of "commitment" to my Christmas card challenge. I know it has been a few weeks since my last post. Here is what I have been up to......So for starters, I am back to work after being on Mat leave....and it has been a difficult adjustment, meaning I have very limited time, and the time I do have I have been spending working on various project for my son's first birthday party (this was this past weekend). Here are a few pictures. The first is a picture of the center piece I made for the cake table ( I took the concept from a stampin success magazine!) This was the inspiration for the entire party theme. The second is a card I designed for a friend to give to a friend. and the Third is the card I made for my little boy for his first birthday! Anyway Just wanted to let you know that although I haven't made a christmas card in a few weeks, I have been creating something! Hope you enjoy! And have a great week.

Week 17 - Punches

This weeks challenge over at Christmas card challenge was Punches. Now being back to work, I have to admit  I am feeling a little less inspired and have even less time, but that is part of the challenge. So here is what I came up with for this challenge.I used the ornament punch from Stampin' up and added the border punch to the bottom. Hope you enjoy! :)

Week 16 - Recipe

Procrastination is the name of the Game this week! I unfortunately put this one off thinking, oh I have lots of time, loads of time, oooodles of time, then it was Saturday night and I had 2 hours! Here is this weeks Christmas card challenge this one was "Recipe" 3 Designer papers, 2 Stamps, Ribbon and a button. So to help this one along, because clearly I was running out of time, I took a little more inspiration from the Mojo Monday Challenge too! And although I didn't quite make the deadline for the contest I was entering, here is what I came up with for this past Challenge.

Week 15 - Twine

As I mentioned in my last post, this week I had a bit of catching up to do, so I had to do 2 cards this week! I know excuses excuses, but I have been so busy that there has just not been any time to make cards. With work looming overhead, and just the thought of having to go back, I have been stressed to the max. This is why I took the time to make 2 card last night, and here is the second. Over at the Christmas Card Challenge, the challenge was to incorporate Twine, and here is what I came up with. I have to admit, I am please with the results. I used some very old stock stampin up dsp, and chocolate chip cardstock, and one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets with co-ordinating punch. Let me know what you think!

Week 14 - Flocking

Ok, so I admit, I had some catching up to do, so yesterday I made 2 cards...here is the one for the challenge from last week which was Flocking, at the Christmas Card Challenge. I have to admit I love, love, love this card. I used pastels to colour and the flocking is the "fuzzy" parts of the Elf's clothes. I hope you enjoy! Oh and did I mention I took this picture with my new camera! I apologize for the backdrop, I need to come up with
a better idea to make it look seamless but it will have to do for now! See you soon!

Another busy week, and I just wasn't feeling the challenge this week, I mean really a Purple pink, White and Green Christmas Card?  So since I needed to make a Card for a friends son's First Birthday., I thought this would suffice. I am quite pleased with the results, and love this card so much. So here is what I came up with! I hope you enjoy...and sorry for my slight diversion from the Challenge.

Week 12 - Shapes

This weeks challenge over at Christmas Card Challenge was Shaped cards: Winter/Christmas Shapes, this was an interesting project. I did have a bit of a hard time with this one....more because I had a hard time choosing a shape. Anyway another busy week, and a later then normal entry :(  I Hope you like it.

Week 11 - Inspiration Photo (Red)

So this week over at the Christmas Card Challenge they provided us with a photo to draw inspiration Please click on the link to see the picture). I took me awhile again this week to get things done but finally manged to get to the finished product. Not too much to say, but I felt like red and black had to happen on this card, with some sort of flower, and since I picked up these really cool things called Glubbers from Cosmo Cricut, and they work amazing for making flowers. I used Real Red Satin ribbon from Stampin up, I have to say the flower tuned out great but the ribbon is a harder material to work with then the fabrics I have used. anyway I hope you enjoy! This could be the one you get in 2012!!

Week 10 - Embossed

It only took me almost all week to get this card done...things have been crazy around here. With so much to do this week I found myself constantly stressing about what to do and when was I going to have time to do it.......FINALLY this afternoon, my son was napping and so was my husband (they are 2 peas in a pod), I decided it was now or never and here is the beauty that is this weeks Christmas Card Challenge entry! This weeks challenge was Embossed, and I just had to use the Stampin up Textured Impressions Designer Frames. And glad I did, this card turned out lovely. Although there are a few ink lines around the words, so I will re-due this card before I give it away (and hopefully before the next challenge is set.)

Week #9 Music

Another week has passed and a new challenge started on Sunday over at Christmas Card Challenge. The challenge this week...Music. I did a lot of brain storming for this one which is why I am just posting it now. I had some beautiful My Minds Eye paper with music notes on it I initially thought of using, but I had a hard time coordinating colours unless I wanted to go with browns again, which was not what I had in mind this time around. So I started back to the drawing board....Music....Music....Music, well Christmas is all about music and carols and singing So I started planning a card that incorporated the words to a christmas carol. Using Adobe Illustrator for the background and the indie art cricut cart. I came up with this beauty....I have to say I am quite proud of this card. As always I like to keep things simple, I always say less is more, and this card really "Rocks" it.

Week 8 - Paisley

So I am going to have to admit, I spent the better part of the day working on the challenge for this weeks Christmas card challenge( thank goodness my husband was home to help with the baby). The task this week was to incorporate paisley into the card. And all I had was one piece of 12x12 paper with a paisley pattern on it. This really limited my options when it came to color. So here is the finished product.....I wasn't so sure how I felt about it when it was done, but I think it is growing on me.

Week 7 - Sketch.

I had a great visit today with a wonderful friend, occasionally we will get together and make a card or two Since I started with my 52 weeks of Christmas challenge, we have both been making christmas cards when we get together, today I worked on this weeks challenge from the  Christmas Card Challenge which was to use this sketch for Inspiration

Here is what I came up with. Again Non traditional colours, and I decided to do a tone on tone.

Week 6 - Backgrounds

So I am just starting to get back to reality, and after a week away from the Monkey, we are nicely falling back into our daily routine. Here is my project for the Christmas Card Challenge with this weeks challenge: Backgrounds. I have been dying to use my shaker frames from Stampin' Up and this project gave me the perfect opportunity. I think I have a little bit of fine tuning to do with these frames but not bad for my first attempt. Stay Tuned for my catch up project for last weeks Challenge "Your Favorite Technique"

Week 4 - Colouring

.....Note to self....invest in more stamps that need to colored in! This weeks challenge at Christmas Card Challenge was to color on your card, and truthfully I had a difficult time with this challenge just because I didn't have a lot of stamps that need coloring sooo I used an oldie from Stampin up! (thankfully it hadn't sold on Kijiji yet!). This is a very simple design, I tried to embelish it but felt like I was trying to hard to make it "fancy" so simple it is.....On that note,  I am off on Vacation next week and won't be able to make any cards where I am going so hopefully I will be able to make it up when I get back!

Monday 16 January 2012

Week 3 - flourish

Here is this weeks project. the goal to add a flourish to the card....Not something I would normally do, but again that is the purpose of doing this blog....to get me out of my comfort zone, and do something different. Again this week it isn't exactly like I imagined at the projects inception, however I am pleased with the result.

Sunday 8 January 2012

Week 2 - Lace

Here is my week 2 project, the challenge this week....Lace. Simple enough, you say? Well let me tell you after coming up with an amazingly artistic idea and spending about 2 hrs working on it, I realized that it just wasn't going to happen (at least not today). So I had to come up with something else, this is my something else. I am pleased with my final product, but not thrilled. Mostly because I really had my heart set on the initial idea....(which I am still working on and perfecting so don't be surprised if you see it posted here at some point or anonther). I am sure you have all been there once or twice and understand what I mean. Anyway hope you enjoy!

Week 1 - A Christmas Thank You

This is the first week of My personal goal, a card a week for the next 52 weeks. I decided to do the  52 Christmas card challenge http://christmascardchallenges.blogspot.com/ but started during week 5.

So This week: The Challenge: a Christmas thank you card. I chose to do this card with Non traditional colours using some old designer paper scraps (trying to clear out the closet...lol), discontinued Rich Razzleberry taffeta ribbon, and Whisper White, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry scrap cardstock from Stampin up.
